Woking Town Centre Saturation Zone (Cumulative Impact Assessment) consultation

Woking Borough Council is seeking your views on the future of a Saturation Zone (also known as a Cumulative Impact Assessment) in parts of Woking town centre.

This zone helps the council manage applications for licensed premises in areas where there is evidence that a high concentration of venues may be contributing to issues such as crime, disorder or public nuisance.

Licensed premises include businesses that sell alcohol, provide late-night refreshment (between 11pm and 5am), or host entertainment such as music, sport or performances.

The council must consider four licensing objectives when making decisions:

• prevention of crime and disorder
• public safety
• prevention of public nuisance
• protection of children from harm

The area covered by the Saturation Zone is shown on the map. It includes parts of Woking town centre, including Victoria Way, Chertsey Road, Standley Road, The Broadway and High Street. It extends to include Woking Train Station and key surrounding roads such as Oriental Road, Goldsworth Road (including the supermarket site) and Church Street West.

The council is required to review the Saturation Zone every three years.

Your views will help determine whether the zone should be retained, changed or removed.
